Tips for Extreme Running

Trips for extreme running from a ulta runner, as extreme as ultrarunning ifself. Here is my extreme-expert-advice with a taste of a world record and the trans europe footrace:

Nutrition before and after running: Create your own food circuit. Eat at a quiet diner, a bistro or prepare your own dinner. Eat only what is healthy and valuable for you and your sport and adhere to 100 % of your own plan. Have your own food ready to eat, every time and every place you arrive. Run to be self-sufficient, even at races.

Motivation to race top-performing: Take pictures of people and things that you love and that are important for you with you. Write down, why are you running and read it when you become tired or running starts to be boring or becoming a drab. If do not get a chance to read, ask your coach to read to you. Read and hear it again and again. Take a picture of the finish line and look at it, every time your brain wants to tell your feet to stop. Imagine how happy and fullfilled you will be at the finish line. Never run without an mp3 player. Good music chases away dark thoughts and expells them from your body. What remains are your muscles and your final goal. If you run near your home town, put some good friends next to the running course to cheer you on.

How to avoid bloody toenails and  blisters under your toenails: Buy the best shoes fitted for you. Never ever run without well cushioned running socks. Take your brand new running shoes right now, take a sharp knife and cut out the area right over your toes. This is a preventive measure and takes care of your footnails. Well, you know it is nice when they start to grow again. But remember: you only have a ten of them. And it doesn't look pretty to run for weeks without toe nails.
